Yeah, I'd refuse to pay for any of that. Explain that their tech couldn't get it working with his own gear so why is it your fault and why should you have to pay for that?
I'd also argue (like you mentioned) that you are switching and aren't going to pay penalties because they are not able to live up to THEIR end of the contract. A contract is a TWO way street. THEY have to uphold THEIR end of the deal if they expect you to uphold YOUR end.
Either you have the most stubborn a-hole call center in the world or you just aren't being "firm" enough with them.

Some progress but not much. Finally got through to their advanced tech support and they are finally conceding there is something bigger going on. And they admitted the tech they sent Saturday was an idiot especially for messing with all of our wiring with out actually testing the main boxes outside the building. They also are pissed at him for not installing an external filter as well.
Now the kicker tho they will not get someone here till Wednesday! An expedite request is filed but tough luck with that considering half this state is shut down from the storm.
We are going to dump ATT for internet service and get comcast, keep ATT for the phones and web hosing only, that is still much cheaper than comcast.

You should check the pricing from Comcast for everything. Their bundled pricing is really good. We don't use our main company for web hosting. You should separate that from your phone and internet provider. Ours is hosted for $8 a month. There are several reason to do this...and i highly recommend it.

Brad we already checked the pricing of a fully bundled package through Comcast and yes initially it rivals ATT but after the promo period it doubles and is much higher than ATT. If it was not such a hassle to switch everything we might consider it but alas the phones work well and really see no need to change it. As for changing host ugh I hate doing that it takes time to migrate etc. If it isn't broke we don't want to fix it.

You must have been quoted a different deal than me. Mine goes up $75 after 12 months, but the great thing is they will keep giving you the same deal year after year...all you do is ask.
After paying taxes and fees from both companies, it might be cheaper to move them to 1.
Seriously though, you need to get your web hosting away from AT&T. Pick a provider outside of your telephone company...it makes switching over less of a hassle.

Ditto on the hosting if you really meant web server hosting.
I'd also look into just a solid internet service and maybe look into some VOIP providers. I use VoicePulse and all the bells and whistles come in real handy at times.

Beats me, we have our website hosted by a different company than our phone/internet provider. The reason for that is if I decide to change providers, I don't have to move my website...and change all of my outlook accounts. It's an easier transition. Same can be said for the server. That hands out IP addresses on the network, before that, any time I would change providers, the new modem would hand out IPs and with that came resetting up all of my network resources. Everything from the vinyl cutter, QB, the various printers and all of the computers. It was a hassle.
I am with comcast now with everything, and there is no looking back.

If someone is interested, there is a link on the bottom of my web sites home page (I get commission on the purchases if there will be any)

I hate AT$T.
I was having issues with crappy speeds once, and called them up.
"Oh yeah, looks like someone here pressed the low-speed button."
WTF?
During the summer I would have issues with spotty connectivity. I finally
traced it down to a plastic connector someone used on the line instead of the demarc box.
It was sitting in the sun and would get hot and expand and break contact.
Moved the line to the box and all was well. Of course I moved shop a week later
but whatever.
Try and think if you're problem coincides with anything else, weather or otherwise.
Remove the variables. Unplug everything on the line, hook your computer
straight to the DSL modem, no filters, hopefully swapping modems and computers if possible.
Eliminate the possibility it's on your end and then demand AT$T do something about it.

Here is an update.
Today a new tech came out actually still here.
They completely went over all the lines in and out up and down and around. Finally the one guy hooked up the modem in the buildings main utility room where everything for this building comes in then distributed out to each unit. He connected the modem then his lap top to the moden and sure enough decent down load speed but zero upload.
Now they finally admit something is up on their end and they called in a much more advanced tech guy that is now in their main distribution box on the street changing cards out. Fingers are crossed and hopefully we are back to normal today. Still to little to late,
We signed up with Comcast for internet and yep phone. Brad we haggled with them and finally got them to agree to a contract that will keep the pricing the same as ATT for two years. We are keeping the web hosting with ATT since it really is not ATT anyways but a third party and it works fine and is cheap.

That is perfect. It's best to leave your web hosting alone since emails and all that jazz are tied in to it. It's a lot easier to switch phone companies if you don't have to worry about web hosting.
So far, Comcast is great. Our speeds are super fast and the phones are perfectly clear.
