Seperate and print order on this?
« on: March 30, 2017, 09:20:41 AM »
Hello ladies and gents..

We have a 6/8 diamondback with flash in head 2

Is there a way we can print this using 5 colors?

I know we will need a white screen, but can anyone recommend the other colors and maybe the print order?

thank you

Oh cool, are they going to do 12 pcs, all different materials and cuts?  That's how just about every crossfit gym has worked out around here for us.

You might be able to print that in 4 colors plus a single white.  You're going to lose some of the colors, but i don't think it will be that noticeable.

Have you thought about transfers for the center icon?  Print the white, then line up the transfers to make them work.  We did this on a job with a 4 color nape of neck logo.  It worked out better to print the back, print a smaller outline of the logo for placement and heat press the logo in place.

You can also use close pantone colors as a substitution for CMYK inks.

Aproximately:

109 yellow
213 magenta
300-3005 Blue or lighter if the color does not thin out enough when printing.

And you can always change them if needed.

Been in the industry since 1996.  5+ years with QCM Inks.  Been a part of shops of all sizes and abilities both as a printer and as an Artist/separator.  I am now the Ink and Chemical Product Manager at Ryonet.

we have zero experience on cmyk or any of that.

Every time a crossfit gym calls I roll my eyes.  They are like clothing lines down here.

I think one of the separators on the board could do this.

I would ask for

Base
Light Blue
Pink
Purple
White

And do get the darker tones will just be where there is less base coming through.

You will lose some of the yellow, but with white it will pop more from normal viewing distances anyhow.

That is how I would do it if I wanted to keep it to 5 colors, and simulated process is more forgiving than trying to do CMY, and you still get base and spot white.

White + CMYK. That's how I'd do it; but I'm familiar with process & not sim process. Tony's probably right about no "K", and he's certainly got more experience than I do.

Looking at your image twice makes me wonder what would happen if you substituted deep purple for black - so CMYPurple. I might try it. But that's just me thinking out loud, not real advice.
Nice guys laugh last.
