Ryonet/ROQ relationship disclosure. . .
« on: January 30, 2017, 11:23:04 AM »
Just so everybody is on the same page and I provide a disclosure about our relationship. . .

We bought two presses from Ryonet and entered in no contractual or unspoken agreement beyond that I will tell what I think! There was some talk very early on about potentially making us a demo shop, but that was ruled out pretty quickly as it did not make long term sense for either.

I have always been vocal about things I like and think will benefit others. After all, the board here is about sharing the knowledge that many other companies would consider secret. We (Blue Moon) have an open door policy and printers come and see what we are doing on regular bases. I take phone calls, assist and test products all the time without compensation. As of last year, I serve on the SGIA garment steering committee and have been officially recognized as somebody giving back to our community beyond what is to be expected.

So, when I share my thoughts with you, it is, first and foremost, because I believe it will benefit the reader. Many here will remember my vocal support of MHM when we started (which clearly did not turn out as expected). Any opportunity I have, I will promote FM over other RIPs as I believe it is better and a better value. Same happened with Silicone inks when we were involved with their development. It is a far superior product for poly garments to anything else on the market (as far as I can tell). Same with ROQ, both my printers and I are supper happy with the presses and know we made the right decision not because some kickbacks or promises of future deliveries, but because we love the presses and are excited to have them. Anybody wanting to come and see it first hand is welcome to stop by!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Pierre, I have honestly never taken you as the type person that would post flattering things for freebies.  You'll lay it out there good or bad with really no bias.

I find it odd that you would have to say any of this Pierre, I've certainly never thought differently. I hope others haven't made some remarks in that direction...

I have actually received messages from at least one unhappy member who said he was leaving because of this. So, apparently, Pierre's recent foray and subsequent reports on Roq and Ryonet were interpreted differently (or at least a little more extremely) than the way most of us saw them.
I hope that those unhappy members at least lurk to see how it plays out in the long run, and hope that they see it wasn't meant to be nefarious.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

we'll I thought it odd, too, but it was said and implied otherwise.

What I did not mention before is that we have received few smaller pieces free of charge in exchange for testing (low profile screens for example today and the new sleeve platens). This is no different from the other stuff we have tested for different manufacturers before. Ryonet asked us to test the new exposure units before we ever bought anything from them, but I declined as we did not have time. Buying the presses did change that, we are finding the time to help if we can as I am appreciative of what they have done for us.

That's crazy, I see it as good fortune, I've been blessed every now and then to receive an item or two and I know I'm nothing special.  I think companies look for unbiased people to get feed back good or bad, why a member here would be hurt by this beat me unless there is something I don't know and that is very highly possible :o

Your transparency and 'open book' policy to screenprinting knowledge is the example I use to lead my shop. Keep it up!

It always reads unbiased to me.
