we've been getting $10.00, one-time charge for years, no complaints over the policy. If it's already there, lucky them...

Used to hear stories about printers mixing these plastisol left overs into their black ink so they could recover a few $s

Only been open about 3.5 months and app 200 Pantones later............those 4 digit colors are quite popular!

When Pantone releases their new colors we will undoubtedly get a few orders shortly thereafter using them.
Designers are an odd lot.

My favourite is a request for a colour from a designer who doesn't actually have the book.

"We're looking for a faded red. What do you think of PMSxxx? Can you send me a picture of the swatch?"

we do exactly this. we have about 15-20 gallons in the back that are just mixed by shade. we have a few customers that we control everything from the start, artwork, color choices, etc. so we design the artwork with these colors and use it up. some we go through like crazy and some sit there forever. at least some of it gets used!

We charge $25/qt. unless it's already on the shelf.  Doesn't matter if it's PMS match or eyeballing.  If the job is big enough where we'll have to mix more than a quart, then usually no charge, unless the customer is being a pain.

We do 25$ per PANTONE color match.
I like Blue Moon's 15$ for eye ball matching. I would like to incorporate that into our options.
