I-Image Colorprint RIP, Grayscale images

We have tons of grayscale files placed in CorelDraw for old RIP for older CTS. All the underbase created in PS, many halftone images. The Colorprint RIP on I-Image is happy with spot colors  only. So all the reprints from files generated in last 6 years are causing issues.
Any idea how to approach/convert files into usable ones?

If you save PS grayscale image as EPS you can open it in I-Image RIP?

save it as a psd, that's how I've been doing it issue free

you could probably save as a dcs2 eps as well, but for those 1 color gresyscale files I've just always saved as psd and had no problems. I think Alex TCT just went through this last week

Thanks, will try it tomorrow.  I would be more happy to just do it in CorelDraw somehow. We reprint roughly 2000 orders each year. So it's way less work (in total) not going through export from CorelDraw, open in Photoshop, save in Photoshop again.

Thanks, will try it tomorrow.  I would be more happy to just do it in CorelDraw somehow. We reprint roughly 2000 orders each year. So it's way less work (in total) not going through export from CorelDraw, open in Photoshop, save in Photoshop again.

It's been a while since I've used Corel, but maaaaybe, try converting to greyscale, save as a psd. I think we have corel on an old pc in here I'll save a file and see what happens and post for you.

not too sure on this particular rip, but I use monochrome bitmaps in corel, print to a PS (postscript file) and run those through our dts rip no problem, we are using a harlequin / Xitron rip.

I tried it , it works Borris, change mode to greyscale in corel, then when you export as a psd, make sure and select gresycale. you'll be good

Thanks, will try it tomorrow. We were instructed to strictly use EPS export from Illustrator, CorelDraw, Photoshop. But will try with PSD export.

yeah, I've been using psd's in both I-Image rips for almost 4 years now. When using a simulated process sep out of photoshop that is multi "channeled" dcs2 eps is best, but the one color greyscale images seem to be "nicer" as a greyscale color mode psd

The Color Print Rip will rip a multi color pdf, single color pdf, single color grayscale, (multi color eps from illustrator or Corel), multi channel psd, etc.
It's not very limited in file types.


The only real need to use eps format is (specifically for dts) as it needs to lock the art into position. Think for example, (a left chest print).  Without eps...and your file size being very small, like a left chest....it will default to the top and center of the screen. (eps and USE ARTBOARD, range 1-for illustrator) enables you to lock it into the template position). THe same is for Corel Draw, but those art board settings are in the export window...under -advanced settings.

So, the instructions to (always use) the eps method...is not due to the RIP only being able to rip eps images, it's for postion purposes.
