I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a workhorse unit. I really only use photopolymer emulsion. Should I be good to go on one of these LED units if that's the case?

I think you will be just fine with photo polymer emulsions.

Nice, good to know. I switch emulsions from time to time. Ulano Orange has been my go to for a while now but I'm trying out Green Galaxy Cryocoat next week. For $2500, I feel like the Workhorse unit is hard to beat in terms of value.

'just talked to a SAATI rep and they confirmed what I have been saying for years, Vastex unit seems to have the most consistent light field on the market. Also, knowing the wavelength of the LEDs in it, they are right on the money there, too. Problem with all the multi bulb units is that they still have some light scatter and limit the ability to hold the super fine dots. (anybody holding a 3% 55lpi probably does not have linearized output. Most 3% dots I see are closer to 8-9%.) SAATI's 450W light unit is, to the best of my knowledge, the only LED light that will hold the superfine detail. So, if the very small dots are important to you, stay away from multibulb designs. My comments on the Vastex unit always said that they are good for 99% of the printers out there. Those absolutely requiring the MH precision should stick with MH or check out the SAATI 450W.

I know both Alan and Rockers, had or are having issues with their Vastex units, not sure what is causing this, but certainly we did not have the problems they had.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

We went the other way 8K Olec FTW.

Thing sounds like an industrial transformer because it kind of is.
220/60 amp is serious business.

We're exposing 25x36 SP-1400 two-up in about 120 seconds.
Just enough time to get the next two ready and the last two in the water.

And it fits our all-over screens.

And you need a step ladder to clean the glass.

La la la love it.

I agree with Pierre that array is inferior to point source and yes, those imaging 1-3% with them are boosting the dot size in that range.  No shame in that game by any means but these units can't get that detail.

Congrats on that 8k!  Jeaulous.  We'll be back to running our 5k units when I can feasibly install new electrical service.  60a of mh output sounds glorious and yeah the sound takes some getting used to.
