CAD Cut Vinyl for Surfboards?
« on: December 01, 2016, 03:15:08 PM »
I googled a bit and it seems like nothing will last forever on these, but I'm just looking for advice on what might be the "best" option.  Client accepts they will probably fail, but is getting requests for these...  Any thoughts?

I'd think any High Performance Cast Vinyl would stay a long time.

Damage is inevitable, but it would be minimal. Unless there might be something with the salt water, I can't imaging why the failure rate would be much of a problem.

Stay away from calendered vinyl and you should be good to go.

Just my 2 cents worth.

hydro dip.

or a clear coat over the vinyl. Never seen a surf board before so I don't know the texture, I assume a clear coat would bond.
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

Is the customer wanting this as a sticker (or something to that effect), or are they wanting this to be the primary decoration on the surfboard? Is it for the end user to apply, or for the board maker to use in production of the board?
Nice guys laugh last.

Cast vinyl. Make sure edges are somehow sealed.
Even with that, it will not last too long
