So I've gotten my feet wet with a few jobs on the auto so far. Definitely an amazing feeling to have the shirts printed for you haha. I've never really liked to print with a lot of off contact and the tech set the press up with nearly a quarter inch of off contact. I didn't see any central adjustment so yesterday I popped 2 square 1" metal bars in head 6 and proceeded to raise the OC on each pallet to a little under an eighth of an inch (3 point leveling is a little tricky). This immediately gave me better print results. The higher OC made it nearly impossible to print without maxing out the pressure. Looks like I can clear the screen with one stroke much easier now also. I'm also using crappy screens from a local supplier. I have some s-thread statics coming in from Spot Color within the next weekish, and I think that will definitely make my life easier as well. I have at least a 1600 piece order and a 400+ piece order coming in April that I can't wait to run, but so far even the 50 piece orders have been a blast to print. I'm already looking forward to out growing this press and shopping for a bigger badder new shiny press haha.

Sorry, just saw this now. I'm in 2800 sqft. There are 2 back rooms, one was an old paint booth that we're trying to clean the crap out of so we can make it our dark room/screen room. The other room has our air compressor and we might move all the ink back there to keep the messy side of things hidden from customers. Only down side is that it's the 3rd floor and the freight elevator isn't that large, so I'm not sure how much bigger of a press I'll be able to get up here when the time comes to upgrade. Looks like I'll be in this location for a while so my goal would be to get an 8 color auto up here eventually. I think if we get crafty we can fit a Sportsman EX or we may just squeeze the base of a Roq in the elevator. I'd entertain a Volt as well. Other thing I'm a little worried about - when the pallet tables lower, you can feel it on the wood floor, so a bigger press might just not be doable. I'll probably start retro fitting the heads with choppers soon and I'll make this setup work for as long as I can to keep the money in the business. After seeing the Roq at ISS, I'm determined to try and get one of those things in here. But for right now, I'm more then pleased. Getting these pallets consistently parallel is a real pain though. That being said, I'm getting the hang of it and the results have been passable for the most part.
