National Expsosure Unit
« on: September 18, 2016, 12:24:06 PM »
I have an old unit that no matter what I do I can't get the Blanket to vacuum down properly. It take 5-6 min for it to vacuum down complete. I have replaced the Blanket but it is obviously leaking around the edges. Can someone give me some ideas of how to fix it? Any pics of edges of Blankets where the seal is on your Blanket.

Shouldn't the blanket be affixed to the top of the frame, and the seal along the bottom in contact with the glass? I've never seen one where the seal was on the blanket itself.

Make sure your gasket that fit's on the glass is butted up at the edge's fitting tight together, if you can show us some pics of your exposure unit, your's sound pretty close to my old unit and mine draws down pretty quick.

Does your blanket create the seal?

From bottom to top....
Glass
Blanket
Gasket material
Metal frame

If that's the case, check that the gasket is not damaged (can be replaced with weather stripping from Home Depot)

Also check there is no trash in the vacuum line (had this happen recently to a Cust of mine)

If the hinges are adjustable (have slots to adjust them up/down)
Loosen the screws with the lid down, pull the vacuum down, and tighten the screws.

If leaning on the front of the frame causes the vacuum to speed up you may need to tighten the closing handle/bracket/thingy...

the Advance Polycops I have owned had the seal on the blanket, which was attached to the underside of the top frame...
