Printing on one ply basketball reversibles

I do sub-contract work for a few sporting dealers.

They are wanting me to print a Nike ONE PLY basketball reversible.

It would have white ink on the black side and black ink on the white side. With numbers on the back of both sides.

I do not see a way to do this without the ink for one side showing up on the other side.

Could you please posts transcripts (or at least the gist)  of your conversation so that the other members may learn as well? (Don't be like Sam, LOL)
Let's make this a real forum discussion.

Besides that, what is one ply reversible? Is that simply white poly that has been dye-subbed black on one side?
If it is opaquely dyed, why would the print show through? Or are you more worried about where the ink comes through the mesh?

Also, have these already been done before by someone else? If so, could you get a sample from your client?

Most reversibles are 4 ply.  2 white & 2 black in this situation.

This way you can go between the plus to do the printing. We put transfer paper on the boards and pull paper and garments off and run it through the dyer.

I just got off the phone with Nike.  They say to use water base inks and print in small areas only.

I feel my sales man will be changing garments for this order.

why not just do transfers.  this is what we did when we did some this year.  could not separate the jersey like old style so we just did them as transfers,  ours were nike red/white

transfers are really the way to go here.

I had to think that the suggestion from Nike to use waterbased inks was shooting for really soft hand on really thin garments.
Transfers on darks aren't known for that.
