Who owns the graphics?

I have a customer who wants to order from another printer.
What do I have to give them in the way of graphics, if anything?
Who owns the files?

If they're on your computer, I'd say you own them right now. You can always give your customer 72dpi files and let them walk them down the street to your competitor if they'd like!

In all seriousness though, if they're nice and just want a change, give them the files. If they're price-shopping and not nice people, do the above!.

All depends on whether any payment you received included the licence to reproduce it (or sometimes more importantly, whether this was spelled out at the time)

At least in this country, you own the art. They only paid for the its use on the shirts you printed.

If they paid you to do artwork they own it, send it to them.

If you "include" or imply to "include" artwork be careful as they may also own it in that case.

Most of the answers you get here will be for the US....I am in Canada so my answer would not be much help....Italy may be way different....

As far as my practice....I "freely" give art files to my clients if they ask....Except when elements like clipart are not licensed for distribution.....
