New Toy . . .
« on: August 25, 2016, 04:58:17 PM »
Any guesses on what it does?

pierre
Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

YES, I did use hot glue to mount the LCD display! No there is no duct tape inside, so it's OK!

I like this one....
Depth?
Ir?
Distance?
Color?

Missed one, which would be super impressive...
Contrast imaging

Than I guess what to do with it

Off contact?
Some kind of densitometer?

So distance, hmm.. To many options... Based on the onslaught of LED and Emulsion threads. I would guess measuring emulsion thicknesses is your plan

homemade no-shirt sensor?

or some kind of counter/monitoring device for performance?

no shirt sensor is to difficult, especially if a revolver program is involved. I am guessing possibly trying to measure ink deposit values?

I wouldn't think that an ultrasonic setup would have the accuracy?  but maybe measuring ink levels in the screens?

other cool ideas:

1. "Registration checking doohickey" I might need to trade mark the name but possible. A lot of software involved
2.  "Cell phone usage alarm"
3.  Bearing and timing belts inspector, could let you know before parts fail

Jason go it, data logging for the press cycles. It measures when the carousel goes up or down and logs it to the SD card in CSV form. This is the second version with a larger box with space for a battery and to install the additional sensor connectors (8 connectors, one for each arm). It will take Ultrasonic movement sensors and IR temperature sensors to tell me which heads are printing or flashing during the job. The idea is to see how fast different color jobs print and how long it takes to set them up.

ultrasonic sensors measure the speed of sound waves so it would not be precise enough to measure the EOM. I think a properly calibrated Hall sensor might work for that, but we already have an EMO meter so not going to do that. I am looking into a FLIR sensor for the dryer (something Steve should be quite familiar with!), but it seems to be cost prohibitive. No shirt sensor will not work on an MHM as there are no physical interfaces I can tap into and tell the press to skip (S-Types and bigger have the button that we don't have). If there's time, I'd like to build an ink and platen temperature monitoring station or a ink temp sensor to install in the flash unit. . .

I have a lot  of those fancy "FLIR" sensors and a lot of code behind them!! I might have some other cool sensors that could help with your concept..... Long beach 2017!

will be there!
Do you have anything that would read UV around 400nm?

Yes I do, it has an upgraded aperture to breakdown the light output by spectrum from 200nm - 600nm.
