Epson 4880 Need help urgently
« on: June 30, 2016, 06:51:27 AM »
Yesterday we filled the Magenta cassette  on our Epson 4880 (using all black) without removing it from the printer and it gave us a error Set Ink Crtg with the third light flashing.   We reset it with a chip resetter, gives us a green light but the printer still gives the same error.
I have disconnected from the power, reset all the casettes, switch the machine off, nothing helps.     We are really busy, at the moment I am managing to print urgent work through a 3880 I have.
Anybody have any ideas what I can do?
Also where can I buy a set of 4880 chips and a re setter?

chips are available on ebay, not sure how that would work with shipping to Israel. . . you can buy a regular Magenta cartridge and put that in. if it all works, just pull the chip off. It should be available at your local stores somewhere.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

agreed. raise and lower the release levers and wiggle the carts while doing so, it should set one of the times.
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

Thanks for the feed back, I solved the problem by getting a cassette from a friend who has a spare one.
I need to order more, either just the chips or cassettes, can someone recommend a supplier>
