Antec Legend?

What is it about the Antec Legend that makes it considered the absolute best manual press out there today? Is the pricing comparable to other manufacturers top of the line manuals?

Depends on who you ask. I would vote the Sidewinder. It's 90% of the Chameleon in function at much less weight.

The Antec has little to no system integration and way less options for pallets, pre-registration, etc.

We have a 6x6 Antec Legend. Bought it  used so I'm not sure how the price compared. 

The floating heads allow all heads to be down and we team print with usually at least 2 printers on, so that is a big advantage for us.
The micro registration is smooth and easy and it will stay locked in perfect register for long runs.
It is well built and solid and I'd expect it to last forever with minimal upkeep.

I think they could make a better way for the pallets to attach to the arm though. It's easy for a pallet to be loaded on crooked. But we made ourselves a jig that attaches to the  pallet arm and allows the pallet to lock in straight within a really small margin.
Also there is a gap between the arm and pallet, probably about 6 or 8", so smaller shirts get a little tight wrapping around the arm.

Yeah, we have had to custom make pretty much all of our pallets.
And i really wish they had a pre registration system, instead we are custom making that as well.

Now that they make M&R pallet attachments, I tried to get them to make their side arm clamps "tri lock" friendly, but they wanted me to send my trilock, which i told them, no thanks.

I bought mine last year.

I ordered mine with 16"x20" aluminum pallets on the normal Antec pallet mounts. And a set of M&R slider style pallet adapters. So my sleeve and youth boards are standard pallets. 

My experiences are with A Hopkins, R Jennings, Vastex V2000, Anatol Thunder and Antec Legend.

The main thing is it's very light weight has floating heads with dual registration gates. When you see how it works you kind of get it as to how this is a better design.

The micros are as good as it gets. But I think the Vastex and Anatol's are on par.

Where the press can be improved.Get rid of the stupid tool and put lever locks (like on the Vastex) on the micros and pallet. Not a deal breaker, but I just don't understand why they aren't made that way now.

The other issue is that the pallets can be put on very crooked when you adjust them. They should have them spring loaded or something to make that not be able to happen.

Those two complaints aside, it's the best manual I have owned. If I could have done it over, I would have paid the money to get that one from the start.

A 6/6 is inline price-wise with the M&R Sidewinder, Anatol Thunder, & Vastex V2000.

If you have a pre-reg unit now, such as tri-loc, you can get the Vastex VRS pallet jig should work. I can align my screens on my ROQ pru unit and that jig will line them up on press. Newman pin reg should work fine on it too.

I would also add again that Legend is probably the lightest machine to turn on the market. That helps a lot on the long runs. Very easy on your arms.
I bought mine used, 20 years old. That was 5-6 years ago. Still runs like a champ with no issues at all!
