CEM DT156
« on: May 13, 2016, 04:15:07 PM »
I am having trouble getting a accurate measurement using my thickness gauge.
Either it is faulty or I am not setting it up properly, most probably the latter.
I know from previous posts that a few people on TSB have the same unit.
Can someone please let me know what settings you use and hat procedure you use to get an accurate measurement.

we use it in the F mode, direct reading.

leave it away from everything when you turn it on until it zeros.

put the metal surface next to the probe sensor and press Zero to zero the probe...

I then take a few readings of the 'empty' mesh and average them

then take a few readings in the areas of the screen you want to look at.... and average each of those areas.. depending on your coating technique, you could get 5 microns difference between the edges and the center or side to side.

take the read thickness and subtract the empty mesh thickness, and then divide that number by the thickness of the mesh:

example

reading: 88 microns
empty mesh: 60 microns

88-60=28
28/60=.4666 == 46.66% EOM

or you can do 88/60-1=.4666 = 46.66% EOM
