Breaking a multi printer down to single colors printers?
« on: May 09, 2016, 06:16:09 PM »
I have heard of a few people that at some point, would buy old Advance Arrow Multi Printers Mark VI and break them down into individual color presses like a clam shell press for flat stock or other.

Anyone know of a contact for this?

Thanks

I'm thinking that anyone with a bit of electronics and mechanical background could help set this up relatively easily.. they're quite basic machines.

I'd be more than willing to work on one (and document the process) for a morning for little more than some beer and lunch, but I don't think anyone is close enough to me to make that happen.

That's essentially what a cameo or tempo press is.  Should be as simple as building a platen and wiring up some controls, right?

Hi Dan, we ran tens of thousands of one color prints on Advance Cameo 18's, it only needs a t-shirt base built, a regular bulldog. We also ran foam hats and mousepads like crazy with them too... We bought a base from Advance (yes, that long ago) and mounted it on a board (after removing the very nice vacuum base with micro registration). Very doable...

Thanks to all,

I'm more so looking for a shop that does this and wants to buy one of these monsters and break it down.
My customer said he's heard of a few people that do this. I told a customer I would post it here to see if anyone knew of this place/person.

His thoughts were that it's more intriguing (sellable) to someone who would want to break it down into many single color presses rather than one 10 or 8 color old press that needs work.

10 color (1990)

8 color (1986-87 model).

Maybe more interesting if he breaks them down himself, unless he's looking for a broker to do it...
