Polyester Viscose womens shirt will not stick to platen
« on: April 21, 2016, 01:57:32 PM »
I use the spreadable waterbased platen tack for my platen adhesive and it always works fine except with this Bella Canvas women's shirt which is made of Poly and Viscose.  It's like the fabric is teflon and nothing sticks.  It's giving me trouble as I have to do a print flash print on it and the shirt shifts ever so slightly during the flash.  It's not from the heat - it's from the removal of the screen after the first pass.

Any advice on how to keep these shirts affixed to the platen?

I just ran about 150 of these yesterday. We put a ton of adhesive down and ran a really slow stroke with more pressure than normal. It kept it down enough to flash and print it again.

ran 65 of them front and back manually last couple days.. had to spray as can't keep the boards hot enough for glue.

now as for when i was with jason.. we ran that stuff alllll the time.. fresh paper.. fresh uncut glue loaded up. then get those boards wicked hot.. 3 second pull your hand back rule.. then print and don't stop till you're done.

Perfect every time.

I have usually found that if waterbase doesn't work, spray will and vice-versa
if spray won't work, waterbase will. Haven't found anything yet I couldn't eventually
figure out how to flash.

this is what we do..

ALSO we put the adhesive on the whole dang pallet. very top to very bottom.

When we did not put it to very top then that part would not stick and the screen would cause it to lift off.

We used a waterbase adhesive for poly (non-diluted). It worked but not great.

Tekmar's TB EZ is supposed to be more aggressive and designed for performance fabrics

That's what we use here Frog.  The EZX to be precise.  We will still have some assorted problems with viscose and coated fabrics even when we lay down a heavy deposit of glue.

But it is amazing glue.
