progress on my Workhorse refurb

Cleaning the heads next. This press looked like a wookie with chipped up paint when I bought it four or five days ago.

I have a question....will this press bring in more business?  Is it better than the R Jennings?  I am not trying to sound rude, but aren't there better things to focus on than fixing up an old press?

Biz is slow I have 1 or 2 jobs to print a day but when I get too busy I'll have a second press to set up jobs on for the next day waiting for me, hire help when I need it  and so on... Everything I fixed so far I came in over the weekend for, the print heads will take a few weeks maybe scrub em for an hour a day. It's all good.

I'm gonna try to print the next 1000+ order myself with help rather than outsourcing like I've been doing.

+ It's kinda fun fixing things up     Makes my shop look more professional than just the 1 manual.

Maybe later down the road sell it and put the money towards an auto.

Yeah, but would this time have been better served by selling more jobs?  All I know is when I am only turning out a job or 2 per day, I hold on to what I can.  You're a 1 man show, you don't need 2 presses.  Even if you hire another employee, 1 person can prep jobs and screens while the other prints, or better yet, you sit your butt in a comfy chair while other people do your work.

You need a plan, rather than just add equipment in case you hire or so that your shop "looks" better.

You want a 2nd manual press and hired help to turn out more work you can not make enough money on?......Using hired help on a manual press is just "pissing" profit away.....If you have enough work for hired help, get an auto press or 10 or 15 years from now you will see you spent 100s of thousands of dollars on wages that you would have saved had you bought an auto press early on....You are taking food out of your family's mouth....

I agree with royster on the auto.  You can find a good auto for around $8,000 for a 6 color.  You will have more energy and more output with an auto.

There's 1/2 a dozen print shops here with multiple manuals with employees, can't be too bad of an idea. Beisdes being on the 3rd floor with no freight elevator there's no way an auto is getting up here. I'm not talking about hiring someone as an employee but rather pay help when I need it.

There you go.  A payment plan from Homer.  Trust me dude, an auto/manual combo is much smarter than a manual/manual combo.

Shawn, you should just stop asking questions altogether since you know everything.  Your work in awesome, you need to be focused on selling that, not filling your shop with equipment that you might use if you hire an employee.

We are just trying to give you advice, and with everything you act like you know it all.  I am not saying this to be a dick, but if you fail at shirt printing this time, maybe you will listen to somebody when they try and use their knowledge and experience to better your situation.
