Corel Draw- Selecting same fill color?
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:11:59 AM »
Corel users,

1, How do you select same fill color in your art so that you can remove or edit all elements that have that same fill color?

2, Does Corel have a print preview (check point) built within Corel to confirm that all art seps are going to print as they should? I know various RIPs may have a preview of the seps but I'm looking for one inside Corel to be used in cases where the other 3rd party options are not available.

I assume Corel will have this feature like Illustrator has.

For selecting all objects of the same color
Edit/Find and Replace has options, but the best way is with a Macro from Oberon called Color Replacer (or Star Color Replacer).
I'll see if I can find a little more for you.

For your other issue
Print/Color/click color separations/Separations/click the plates you want to display/Print Preview

Find and replace functions OK. Main time suck is making sure the "same number of nodes" part of the selection is OFF. Default on my X4 is ON. It's a PIA, but the program also resets itself on the regular, so I never bothered to check if there was a way to switch that off from the get go.

The only seps proof I've found/used is the one in the Print popup, tab separations - but either it or AccuRip isn't always honest (I suspect the error is on AccuRip's end though) and you need to click print preview form there to see it clearly.

Yes,  I see there area lot of steps via the Select same objects method.  Is there an ACTION script in Corel to do this in one button click?

Yep. this is good. I just downloaded it. Seems pretty on par with what Illy has built in it's options. The only thing nice with Illy, is you do have the option to create your own script actions (like this one) to shorten the task even further but this once for Corel nice and fast.

If the goal is to simply change the fill color vs select all the same fill color objects, I would recommend the Color Styles option under Tools.

Took me a little bit to get comfortable with it but I use it a lot now.

As for the sep preview...
Print with Preview
On the Separations tab check the box for Print Separations
This will give you a page by page preview of all colors Draw thinks you want printed.
