The one you are thinking of was penned primarily by Joe Clarke when he was with Flexible Products (original company that owned the brand Wilflex).  Some awesome drawings. My fav was the one for the old MCV product illustrating "soft hand"  - has a hand melting into the paper. Great stuff.

This was circa 1985-1990.

Mine is not that old, it is probably from the late 90's. It does have illustrations in it.
