over the zipper prints
« on: March 02, 2016, 10:32:58 PM »
This is something we keep coming back to. We cannot get a print over the zipper to come out correctly.

We've tried:
-Rubber plattens
-Special plattens from action
-Foam from the craftstore
-Neoprene
-Cardboard

nothing gets rid of that stupid streak to the left of the zipper where it should seat in the channel correctly.

What are we doing wrong?

our best luck has been:
neoprene(5m)
hard squeegee
lots of pressure
slow stroke
In regard to the garments - some are better than other, Best results have been Bella Canvas , Tultex , and Independent

Thank you that was to be sure  :D

But how do you install the neoprene on the pallet, do you make a groove ? do you tape it ?
Is that possible to see a photo ?

And to secure the garment do you use spray adhesive ? or you just place the garment on the neoprene nothing more ?

Thank a lot !!

some garments print better than the others even with the right kind of foam. We paid Rick Roth for the info on printing and right foam type (not neoprene). Saved us a lot of headache, but we were starting from scratch, so it might not be as much help to you.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

These were printed on Independent Trading Co. AFX90u zip ups...so they should have printed ok, especially with a discharge ink, and foam panels, cut so that the channel seats right.

we don't cut the foam. . . it will still show on the hoodie pockets as the height distance is too high, but it works well on zippers. Email Rick!

Foam, no channel.

That said, as some of the more knowledgeable here have indicated, heat press transfers assures
nearly perfect and predictable results.
