Newman roller tape
« on: February 22, 2016, 09:07:35 AM »
Anyone know who still sells newman roller tape?  I see plenty of site explaining how to use it but nowhere do I see add product to cart.

do you mean the duct-tape type stuff that you use to protect the mesh when going in and out of screen racks/on press?  or the stuff that's kinda like split tape?

we use Polyken tape from our local mesh supplier (Graphic Screen Fashion) for the mesh protection.

for the split tape stuff, when we use it (not often), we use standard PMI 4" split tape.

you have to buy it from stretch devices.

but Jvanick is right, Polyken is the way to go. It's easier to get a hold of. For instance we buy ours off amazon.

Amazon shows a few different versions, which one (number) do you use.

I went from full on polyken taping rollers to putting a half strip down the roller to protect the mesh and not cover the channel (rinsed easier and more cleanly,) to just not using the stuff.

IME the tape won't save the screen for long, but will cover up the damage until the screen pops--usually on press.

So no tape on the rollers?  That's ballsy.

So no tape at all? In my shop that just spells disaster, as the guys don't quite have the same care that I do.

We have been using Gorilla tape. It is very strong, and comes off cleanly when its time to restretch

I bet a lady could pull it off too, if she put her mind to it.  :)

I find the tape mostly just hides the damage.
In fact, I've run screens with small ding type holes along the rollers a few times just to see if the tape was really doing something as far as rip prevention goes, and it didn't appear that way from my (inconclusive anecdotal) testing.

just checked on our pricing at Graphic Screen Fashion...

2” white polyken —15.53/roll
3” white polyken —24.64/roll

while the 3" is only a bit cheaper, the 2" is way cheaper than the other links posted above.
