Good day all! We have an exciting new addition to the ImageStar Silicone product line - IMS35245 RFU SIL MASKING BLACK
This product was specifically developed as a first down barrier ink deposit when printing on
dye-sublimated polyester garments, i.e. sublimated camo shirts. Print the Masking Black as a first down ink layer. Flash, then overprint with white and colors as standard print procedures. The Masking Black is designed to block and absorb the sublimated dyes thus inhibiting these dyes from migrating through and into the white and over print colors. Badger Sportswear personnel along with our own Simon Romero printed this product on Badger dye sublimated camo garments in the Nazdar SourceOne booth at the SGIA show in Atlanta, GA last month. The hand/feel of the print is amazing! At the bottom of this announcement is a link to my dropbox for the print specifications (file was too big to upload).
Inventory in quarts, gallons, and 5G pails is available for immediate sale.
A few Q&A’s:
What is the difference between Masking Black and the standard RFU Opaque Black?
• Masking Black uses raw materials to absorb the sublimated dyes (like is used in the plastisol underbase grays for example).
Do I need to use two ImageStar Silicone Black inks?
• NO. Masking Black can be utilized for all print applications where the IMS35750 Black is used.
Why do I need this? I thought the dye sub inks would migrate and pass through the vapor permeable silicone surface over the course of a couple days?
• In many cases BUT NOT ALL, indeed, the continual gassing through the ink film takes place. The problem is you cannot consistently predict when this will occur.
• To mitigate the risk, the use of Masking Black as an under base on the dye sublimated fabrics is
highly recommended as best practice.
