Does anyone do this, do some brands not play well together?  I was using CCI base and mixing some colors for discharge, accidentally grabbed the Magna discharge agent.  Like a dummy my stir stick was not close by, took me about 30 seconds to find it, once i found it i mixed it up, started printing within 5 minutes, had a tar like consistency, and some of the ink actually turned as hard as stone, prints were not going good, actually was hearing sounds like stones being ground together on the screen, stopped the press and found what looked like black rock chunks in the ink, then found some in the container i used to mix the ink.
Not sure if it was because the discharge agent sat on top of the ink for almost a minute before i started mixing, or if CCI and Magna don't play well together,  made a second batch of all CCI products with no issues, but stirred right away, and then did a third test of all Magna, still no issues.  Either the delay or incompatible I am guessing caused this.

  Anyone else ever seen this?

If you wait a bit and don't mix things, this can happen, clumping of the ZFS. Most ZFS powder is the same thing just maybe smaller grain size.

Magna does make another discharge line that is not ZFS and a different system all together, and wouldn't mix with other systems, it is there own ® product line.
( I haven't used this system, so I can't help with that and don't know the effects it would have )

we've used CCI, Sericol and Rutland agent all with Rutland and Matsui interchangeably with no issues.

If you are using a "ZFS" based discharge system then all the discharge agents should be nearly identical.  There are some rare instances where you can get some incompatibility but that would be the exception and not the norm.
If you want to know for sure, just re-test using the CCI base & Magna agent again, but mix right away.  If you get the same clumping issue then there is a compatibility problem.

Best of luck,
