Some more questions
« on: December 05, 2015, 10:46:39 PM »
Does anyone else know where to get custom printing out of 3m inks? Or if I order iron ons do they last as long as prints?

Okay, I split this from the your thread in the Blanks section because it obviously is no longer just about locating blanks.
It also begs some more questions.

What 3M inks are you talking about?
What do you mean by "Iron Ons"? There are many different types, including screen printed, digitally produced, and cad-cut vinyl.
The mere use of that particular term kinda pegs you though as as end user and not in the trade (at least not yet)
Do you have a heat press? "Iron Ons" lost a lot of favor many years ago with, a bad reputation for, among other things, longevity and consistency. That, even today, can come about with use of  a home iron rather than a commercial heat press.

I think that many of your posts so far lead to the need and advantage of your stopping by our Introduction Section, and telling us a little about yourself. Believe it or not, you may then find many of the answers you receive will be a little more helpful by being tailored to you specifically.

" Iron Ons" !   Frog! Don't you remember "banana split" iron ons free in cereal boxes in the 60's?
As well as "peace signs", "groovy", "right on", "far out" ?
Then early 70's  They became heat transfers  " keep on truckin",  And my favorite "Farah Fawcett" in the Red One Piece!
That was the down fall of "lust" for many a fine lad.
You know "Iron Ons".

Memories, Farah and her famous pose paid for much of my early equipment,  too bad the studio where they took the swimsuit picture was so cold....

I suppose you could peg the OP as less that trade show and redirect him to the scooter shack. However it seemed like a question to me, "and no questions are bad right?.... Digital, screen, Cad, yes all different kinds of methods but not really changing the fact its just still some hot patch at the end of the day, Still crack, fade, and uncomfortable to wear, not to mention considered a bit tacky in some circles... Farrahs years were a boon to the industry no question about that, shops popped up all over the place, But she is gone now, And probably should have taken the "iron on" with her.

As I told our anonymous friend, a little background could only help tailoring answers to him, his abilities, and his equipment. Location also often helps provide suggestions for local suppliers as well as invitations to other operations, keeping in mind, that many products and instructions are aimed at professionally equipped commercial operations, and some things are tough to do "by the seat of one's pants".

As for Farah taking "iron-ons" with her, as I have told dozens (if not hundreds) of clients and potential clients each year for the last decade or more, from plastisol hot splits, hot peels, and cold peels  which are virtually indistinguishable from their equivalent direct prints,  to today's commercial quality digital inkjet and laser paper, and sublimation, "these aren't your father's 'iron-ons' any more".

btw, welcome, and why don't you think about stopping by Introductions as well!
