400,000 piece shirt order
« on: December 03, 2015, 04:25:15 PM »
I came across a printer that needed to start working on an order for 400k shirts.

Wow!  One order, for 400,000.  Later in the day, he got another for a smaller order of 75 thousand.

Nice, but I bet it's boring to run. It's 1 color, white ink on light blue. Front and back.

In my experience, with shops that get 800,000 impression orders, the boss ain't one of the ones getting bored.

Thats nothing compared to the guys in china printing 800-900,000 shirts per day LOL

We are on the tail end of closing an order for between 900k-1.4 million pcs but who knows if its going to end up off shore or if we can actually get the contract signed

At that amount pennies per print if you are not careful. Wages, room for everything (rent), pizza, and everything else. That is my experience with it anyway. Depends on client though

The largest I've been involved with was 150K back in the early 80's, 1 color, 1 side, no real autos... 2 manual presses, one Advance Cameo flatbed converted to print t's (the same thing Advance did with their multi-printers) and a Filbar flatbed converted to print 2 up. Flashing had not been invented yet. And if I remember correctly, for $0.125 per shirt (it was contract) Had a shot at Obama's first inauguration, for about a million, had pricing through New Buffalo which we would have sub-contracted, and made $0.08 per shirt for a few phone calls, but of course, it didn't happen.
