Brother 361 and white ink question...
« on: December 02, 2015, 08:13:12 AM »
I just started using my brother 361. I am using the pdip RIP software. Settings are 7 highlight and 3 mask. Pretreat machine is the viper one, set for 1 rotation 42 lbs at the can 75 lbs at the compressor. Pretreat fluid is the brother issued stuff mixed 2 parts distilled water to 1 part pretreat. Heatpress is heavy pressure 356 degress for 35 seconds. Shirt is Black Hanes Nano ringspun. I need to print a big 11 inch yellow circle on a black shirt. The PNG file is RGB and yellow is set at 255,255,0 and 600 DPI. The finished print looks a bit blotchy and not screenprint like quality like I should print it twice.... The white base is not intense enough which is making the yellow look like shizzang!.... Anyone have experience here that can recommend settings that will yield better quality?

Right off the bat 35 seconds isn't long enough to push all the moisture out.  You might want to press it twice for that.  It sounds like your shirt is still a bit damp.

we almost always use a 5 mask.

How many grams of PT are you putting down per 14x16?

Thanks. I will try the 5 mask and the longer drying. The user manual for the viper shows that one rotation of the knob on front sets the spray at about 30.4 grams. That's what its been at for the dark shirts.

that should be an appropriate amount of PT.  try heating it longer.

Also, what pretreat are you using and how are you mixing it?

did you heat your shirts longer as well?

You have to make sure those things are like nosebleed dry.
