Gildan Tear-Away Tags
« on: November 23, 2015, 10:05:14 AM »
Looks like the G5000 have the tear away tags in them now. Anyone notice that when they are going through the dryer they shrivel and shrink and get hard? Just did a pretty large order and all the tags look and feel like crap. I don't care that much, as I guess they are meant to be torn out, but they just look bad. Anyone else seeing this?

Not familiar with that particular tag, but I have found the need to fold the collar over to prevent this with others for years.

Worst tags I ever came across were the Hanes Beefy right after the Sara Lee takeover.
They used dyes that ran and blurred if any spotting liquid got on them, and naturally, that's where we had our break-out soon after getting the new batch.
Fortunately, they had a rep visit us around then and when this was pointed out, they went back to whatever they were using previously.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

I have noticed this and I was starting to wonder if my dryer was getting them too hot.  I will be interested to see if anyone else is having this on the G5000.  I hate the way it makes the tags curl.

It's the tradeoff for being easy to tear out, the material can't take the heat.
We fold them under like Frog if we aren't relabelling. Seems this is the new
norm so I'd start getting used to folding, or upselling the relabel!
