Epson 4800
« on: October 02, 2015, 07:50:43 AM »
Anyone know if you can reset the maint. tank on Epson 4800? Mine is showing almost full and I replace the filler in the tank but the error is still flashing. Thanks

You need a chip resetter
The bulk tank suppliers usually have them.

Hope that link works. It's a video on replacing the media in the tank but at the end she shows how to put it in a diagnostic mode and reset the tank counter. Worked on my 4000.

sorry, got to a computer and that vid uses a resetter.  Here's what someone told me to do on my 4000 and it worked:

The maintenance reset procedure for Epson Stylus Pro 4000.

Turn off the printer
Hold down the three leftmost arrow buttons [left-arrow] [down-arrow] [up-arrow]
Turn on the printer
Release the buttons
A new menu will appear
Press the up/down arrows to get to the "Clear Counters" menu
Press RIGHT
Press the up/down arrows to get the "Maintenance Tank" menu
Clear the counter.
Turn off printer.
When you restart the printer, the maintenance tank should indicate 'Empty'

And after further googling it looks like the 4800 might not have that option in the self test menu. Give it a shot anyway. But looks like you need a chip resetter or a new tank. Chip resetters are worth the cost if you don't already have one. A local retail inkjet store might even sell them if you're in a bind.

When I got the printer the blank cartridges has a cleaning fluid in them, my question is there are numerous recipes for the liquid from distilled water and simple green to alcohol. What do you use and or order to keep them full while using only black?

If my mind is correct I think people use a mix of water and alcohol

I use the blue window cleaner, about 25% with 75% distilled water.
I don't think it's that important, you just want a liquid that will not dry and keep the lines and heads open.
