Yes, the Calmart are faster. We had one of ours die, and replaced it with the MSI, the upkeep is much less, though they are a tad slower to flash with, but replacement bulbs are much, much less.

I have two each of the S-type Calmats and the MSI flashes.
Never had a single issue with either. The Calmat is noticeably
faster, likely due to the insane bulbs they use, but once you are
warmed up the difference is negligible. And at what they want for those
bulbs I'd take the MSI any day. Calmat does some weird stuff, like
putting 100 volt bulbs in series, etc, that doesn't make a ton of sense,
nor inspire confidence.

Calmats for S-type are different and from what I understand are not suffering the same problems. . .

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

ours are S-type. One we couldn't fix, the other we were able to get some spare parts for from Rick Roth at Mirror image. After that, we'll probably get another MSI to have as a backup.

Have placed a fan on the inside of the machine as Pierre suggested and ran another long job today and the flash didn't trip out   ;D

Thanks for all the input guys and still keen on looking at the pics from Maxie

I am back from India so here are the photographs.
I have a 4" tube fan that I mounted on the E Type, I made a connector that I placed over the hole of the back fan (which I removed)
The external fan is connected to the electrical connection of the fan I removed (back fan) and the wire runs through the sleeve to the fan.
You cannot see it in the photograph but there is a electrical quick connect so we can remove the flash.
Hope this is clear.
This fan really blasts a lot of air into the flash and we don't have a fan standing on the floor
