Need heat transfer suppliers
« on: September 30, 2011, 08:16:07 AM »
Hi there. As some of you know, I got myself a new toy (DK16 heat press).

Could you share with me a good source for custom transfers that you use. I have Stahls Transfer Express close to me, Acre Transfers in Springfield Ohio and I was wandering if there is anyone else that you would recommend. I'm interested in custom or stock plastisol transfers, numbers and names and rhinestone transfers.

Thanks

FM Expressions in NJ. I've been getting 2 color numbers for reversible tanks from them, good quality and price, fast shipping. I also do a lot with transfer express.

I made a mistake once; I thought I was wrong about something; I wasn't

You didn't mention, but should also consider the areas that comprise almost all of my heat seal business; digital transfers and  vinyl (or mostly polyurethane now) films, both die cut and custom cad cut.

I recently switched to inkjet for my transfers when the old Canon CLC died. I use mostly media from Neenah.

For cad-cut films, I now mostly use Easy Weed from Siser, and for diecut numbers and letters, Thermo Film from Stahl's.

What determines to use either vinyl numbers or heat transfer screened transfers?
50% of the time I'm 100% right.

In the east you have lots of options.....Because I am in the West and in Canada I mostly use Transfer Express......

- They ship their Easy Prints in 1 day (some same day if you order early)...
- They offer 2 day shipping at ground rates....
- They are more expensive but their quality is 100%....
- Their custom work ships in 3 days....
- Great colour selection.....
- Several ink styles....
- My clients love their "Idea Book".....

What determines to use either vinyl numbers or heat transfer screened transfers?

For me, years and years ago, it was availability, consistency, durability, opacity, and the fairly wide choice of colors (though white comprises almost 80% of my work).
Now it's often the convenience of matching numbers, letters, or cad cut when needed, and though I have cad-cut availability, I also use a lot of die cut stuff, and as far as I know, there isn't the same availability of screen printed letters.

If you have an InkJet Printer or laser Printer you can buy the blank transfers and print them yourself :)

I would have to respectfully disagree, at least for the numbers that Fresh Baked asked about. Digital transfers both CLC and inkjet can be great, and I use them like crazy, but are rarely interchangable with die-cut or cad-cut vinyl and polyeurethane  films and/or screened transfers as numbers in most applications.

And this is coming from someone who just ordered 300 sheets of  Jet Pro Soft Stretch inkjet paper  from you guys yesterday! ;D
In fact, I am doing a job of 39 digital transfers today!
