Chalkboard ink?
« on: September 08, 2015, 12:35:32 PM »
new one every day... we had a customer that called looking to see if we can do some kind of 'chalkboard' effect on a shirt where you could write with chalk on black ink?

I've never heard of anything like this before...

Thoughts?

Magna makes a waterbase chalkboard that works real well. We have product in inventory. Email me if you would like more info. I will post a pic up when I get back to my office in a bit.

I've used Unions product.  Low mesh (used an 86 IIRC) is recommended in the TDS.

Neat product--worked very well for writing on, customer liked them.

WB product sounds pretty interesting... the hand was a little heavy compared to the average 'black' plastisol print...

wow, that Magna price is high.

customer luckily is willing to pay for the R&D, so I think we're gonna try the plastisol route... he's not too picky when it comes to hand of the prints.

I hear ya!

Most specialty inks are higher priced - specifically in smaller containers.  Just FWIW -- this product is sold by the kg:
5kg = $115.99 / This is 1.25 gals so $93.02 per gallon
30kg = $649.25 / This is 7.5 gals so $86.80 per gallon.

I have no idea what the Union plastisol sells for?

the plastisol is about $67 a gallon.

we have no experience with the Magna WB products...

Anybody have any experience with the Magna WB chalkboard ink?  we print WB all the time here, maybe I should give it a shot as something 'different'.
