There are more than a few equipment brokers that have gone away only to come back because they can't do it in another industry (rip people off essentially).  I'm very surprised the most well known of the equipment brokers hasn't slipped back into our realm, but I still wouldn't bet any amount of money that he'll never come back.  Beds for big folks must be a booming industry or he's found other "soft spots" to exploit.

Good markup on mattresses. Super easy to bait & switch with a made up brand/model name. I'm one of the few who sorta miss the guy. I just made the last payment on my press and my Print--Ex parts are chugging along as well as the Anatol parts lol if that says anything.

The industry needed someone to set the bar real low so we could all understand how bad it could be. We miss him for that. Haha.

I've heard that same reasoning with regards to politics lately, and by both sides :)

I know of a 16 color (actually closer to a 10 color due to repairs needed to certain heads) P-ex for sale, desperately needing to be sold from what little I can tell.  I've heard great things about it (not really, just thought I'd see if anybody's sarcasm meter needs some testing) but all in all, it might have potential in the right hands.  But it really needs parts, and I don't know how readily available parts are for it, especially here in the states.  It's a generation 1 upgraded to a 2nd gen, which isn't as good as the 2nd gens but certainly better than the 1st gen.  I haven't seen this press operate since it was installed and heard it liked to take long walks if not properly leashed (bolted to the floor).  I do believe for the right price and in the right shop it would be better than printing manually :).  I think what he's asking is too much.  If all heads worked perfectly and the flash units were good I still don't know that it would be worth the selling price due to parts and service.  I could see a shop taking a chance on it if they already had a Prism and were experienced enough with them that they could keep it spinning, but at the asking price and knowing about what was paid for it...it's not selling any time soon.

In the context of this particular thread, there was more than one instance of this newly mentioned individual not delivering product.
On the broader picture, he was a disruptive force on industry forums, hence, in fact, the creation of this very place.
From the get-go however, we also pledged to not become a place to bash him.
Out of sight, out of mind, (and damn, our local Sprouts Market was out of Soda Bread!)
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

Maybe Binkspot would be interested. If it were a cheap 6 color I'd gamble just to have a sleeve/youth press. I need a proxy sensor since I destroyed one by my own stupidity. I'm pretty sure it's just a part number search away.

I'm sure they'll start popping up for a song when people can't get a major part for them. A little reverse engineering could get them back in running order I'm sure.

I had nothing I do with that 16 Allen (don't think I did, not the Lubbock one)  is talking about but would be willing to go to the shop (customer pick up my expenses) and look at it and offer a no cure no pay deal. If I can fix it and make it right they pay my service rate, if not I go home. I am 99.9% sure I could straighten it out after getting some of the other messes I have cleaned up. But they would have to be willing to buy the necessary parts. Which are readily available next day if you are willing to pay the price. They are still active and parts are available.
That wouldn't be the first press or last he left the customer holding the bag.
Maybe I got lucky, other then a few issues in the beginning the ours runs like a top.

BTW we sold the business last week and looking to get rid of the equipment that wasn't in the sale if anyone is interested.

I check Craigslist and digismith almost daily to see what's out there. Someone has been posting on Craigslist looking for show shops for viper presses. When I Google the press 360 machines is all I find. Looks like they are posting it across the country. Wonder if it is him

As I pointed out, he's never going to stop. He's 360 machines yes. Wants amazing to me is how easy it is to find dirt on this guy and nobody does any homework on it.

He called me a while back to talk about this.  It's a relabeled RPM.  Sadly is a great press but the manufacturer can't find a great sales team for them in the US.

It's really too bad, it just seems like Rick is perfectly happy selling and servicing a set amount of machines per year and not looking to get out there more than that.  I don't think there is a press on earth that could have done a better job for us the last 7 years.  As good? Possible, but better?  No way.  One service call in 7 years and 2 million impressions, one chopper cylinder replacement, not really any air leaks until recently (easy fixes), it's been rock solid.  For us it's been the best, but for many that have bought a used RPM it has been a struggle.  I know of a few others that bought new RPM's and have had great support, I don't think I've heard a complaint from that side, but the used buyers have had a different experience.  I like and respect the heck out of Rick, but I can't lie and say I'm not disappointed with many of the emails I get from others needing help.  I wish I were more able to provide the help and support the used market needs but I can't with how we've grown the last 5 years.

Oh good gourd, Mustang and now Viper? I'm falling behind on all the name changes!

I knew Bink would step in and comment, he knows those Print-ex machines backward and forward. They should take him up on his offer, if it makes it through the grapevine to them.
