Question about older Tajimas

I know the older Tajima's can be updated to USB. I was wondering what differences there were with a machine from 98-04 today's machines. Is there certain models to avoid for lack of parts being made?

I see a lot of TMEX C1501 single heads out there and that year range. Thoughts on these?

We have a TFHX 1504 2C from that era, that is just now being converted from floppy to USB.

There ARE some parts that are discontinued, but most are available used, salvaged, or refurbed. We like PinPoint International for used parts 877-778-9850. Ken Bussell is our guy.

There are other companies like Sew Many Parts that have some used and salvaged parts, and if you poke around, there might be a current or even past vendor/sponsor for this board, which of course should be a top consideration. I just didn't find one during a cursory look.

Tajima's are workhorses, but I wouldn't shy away from a used Barudan.

we have yet to upgrade ours to the usb yet not for any reason other than down time to do it.  we do have c1501 and have had to replace several parts for it.  some parts were outdated but they have newer ones to replace the parts which are no longer made.  but we can find any parts we need though.  just replaced 2 power supplies in 2 of our single heads c1501's    both were bought in 99 and they both had power supply go out within 2 weeks of each other.
