Textured vinyl materials, like glitter flake, cannot be layered when creating a multicolor or multimaterial design. When using a textured cutter product, use trapping to create the same effect.
Trapping is a technique that has two materials slightly overlap one another, which allows for both pieces to have contact with the garment and form a good bond.
A trap of about 1 mm usually allows for shrinkage without the edges peeling. If garment show-through between colors is a concern, an alternative is “gapping” to outline a color.
Other materials this technique should be used with include foil materials such as hologram and metallic films.
