Whats the best flash for under $1000

Hey!!  I am wanting to get a flash that will cover a minimum of 18 x 18 as an add on to our manual press.  Anybody got any ideas new or used.  I just don't want to spend a fortune but it being nice enough to control the heat for the performance products would be a definite plus.  Let me know!!

Black Body have been around for years.  These are IR panel flashes.  Quartz will be hard at that price point.  Maybe an used MSI flash

I did buy a Workhorse one years ago, that was pretty good, the base wasn't, but hey, i tossed it out and made it into a shuttle flash.

Call Intek directly and tell them what you need.  They make the panels for most of the other companies who then mark them up and put them in pretty housing.  They built me a custom 18x24 IR panel that uses 120V and less than 20A because that's what I needed for my shop and it was at or under $300 shipped.  It works flawlessly and I built my own housing and did the stupid simple wiring myself for less than $50.  Used a stand from a broken piece of crap coil flash dryer I got for free on craigslist.  They also sell a prebuilt plug and play head with the panel for not much more.  Far and away the cheapest high quality flash I could find when I looked...

Black Body and Vastex both have great flashes under $1000.  Black Body's Black Flash 18"x18" w/ built-in heat control and stand or Vastex RedFlash 18"x 18" w/ standard, or upgraded, stands would both be great options.  I've attached information on both.

They are super friendly and just all around great to work with.  I wanted a large flash area (enough to cover a full 16x22 pallet) with consistent temp and low electrical requirements.  I spoke directly with a tech for about 30 minutes going over all the details and they literally custom built me a panel to my specs (18x24 of actual IR panel, uses less than 20 amps peak, uses 120 vs 208 or 240, etc).  The tech said the only "issue" was it would take longer to heat up due to the size vs electrical requirements, which I could care less about.  It was also less expensive than any comparably sized used flash I could find and the panel is a true 18x24, not 18x18 with an inch on each side blocked by housing and the 24 inch most of them include referring to the guts of the head, not the element.
