I did some testing today of a 300 LED I bought from Saati.
I met Greg at FESPA and he mentioned that they had a 300W LED for $600.
I have a really well made exposure unit that has worked with flourescents up to now and I've been looking for a reasonably prices LED replacement. Most of the LED manufacturers don't want to sell only the lights and one supplier quoted me $7500 for lamps to expose 2 screens at once.
I did not want to spend the money on a new unit and have following the posts about home made LED units for quite some time.
This unit has the advantage of working almost like a spot light source. It's a box about 20 x 30 x 3". I set it up about 34" under the glass and did some tests with Ulano 925W (what I've used up to now) and Saati PHU.(what I'm going to be using). I can expose two 23 X 30" at this distance.
The Ulano gave me a solid seven on the test strip and great detail at 4.5 minutes and the PHU gave me a solid 7 at 0.8 min also holding a lot of details on the Ulano and Murakami test films I have.
Both emulsions held a lot of detail on the 110 mesh I tested them on.
I'm looking forward to seeing the results on finer meshes.
