Graphtec Driver Installation Problems
« on: July 04, 2015, 10:19:27 AM »
The subject line says it all. I have tried repeatedly, and have been careful about when to connect what according to the instructions.
During the procedure, I get no messages that indicate problems (like from Norton AV), but merely the notice at the very end that "Driver Installation was Unsuccessful"

Next week, I plan on talking to their tech, but in the meantime, any suggestions? Did any of you experience similar difficulty?

Did you try to cut with it to see if it worked anyway? I don't remember if I had problems installing my Graphtec driver, just the Roland. That one created some tears. The only suggestion I can give is turn off your firewall and antivirus. Uninstall any older versions of Graphtec drivers if you have them. And if your installing from a disc try the download version instead.

Switching off Norton was to be my next plan. I may have fallen into a sense of complacency as I expected error messages during the process if indeed, my AV was the culprit. I may have time today to try that.
The problem with just trying to cut with it anyway, is that through the cutting Plug-in, Cutting Master, there is no cutter recognized to which to send the job.

Otherwise, I am trying the downloaded version, and all is clean for the new attempts.

Sometimes I'll get a no cutter recognized message or Cutting Master will just sit there trying to send. I'll turn off the cutter and turn back on while connected to the computer and it will reset.

I actually just had time to try again, no Norton, no internet, and, alas, no luck.
Hopefully the tech can talk me through it next weeek

Sorry to hear. Sucks when you have a new toy that you can't play with.

Windows 7, might try turning off firewall in windows. Make sure to run as administrator.  Right click the file run as.

Turned out to be a USB issue.

Interestingly though, as the tech pointed out, Graphtec has the unaware jumping through unnecessary hoops with controllers and drivers and such, as all that is required for our purposes is Cutting Master 3 (and a friendly USB port)

The usb port thing reminds me of learning many years ago when assembling computers, or changing cards, for no real reason, some slots would work with some  and others wouldn't. We just accepted it.

Make sure your cutter is set to use the correct language.
I know that I had the same issue with my CE5000-60.

It talks to the computer with GPGL or HPGL, not sure which one had to be used.
Research that a bit more.
Also, contact Graphtec today, they will probably call you back on Monday.

Good luck

Talked to Leo already this morning. And yes, the language thing is one of the numerous issues that following the Graphtec basic generis video screws up on!
With Cutting Master 3, we do not want to use the simple setting (which apparently changes the language as well)
