Ideal operating conditions for a DTS...
« on: June 25, 2015, 10:07:12 AM »
I'm 99.99% sold on an Epson based DTS unit -(no Dave, I didn't go wax) what are the ideal operating conditions for one of these machines? I wanted to put it in my dark room but we put wet screens in there right after they're cleaned. The room has a dehumidifier as well at 35%. I do have the ability to block off part of the room, it's basically two 12x 12 rooms with a door way in the middle. Should I block the one room off and put an ac unit in there? It's pretty humid all summer long so I'm not really too sure what to do. what do you guys do?

Which one are you thinking...

-AND-

Which Epson 'engine' is it using... if it's a x900, you may want to reconsider.

We have a I-Image slant model (7900 'engine')  Ours is in our 30-35% RH, 75-85 degree screen room and wet screens do go in there... but, we've had no problems with print heads clogging or needing to do power cleans... we do baby it tho... (nozzle check every day, try to use different print heads different times of the day and days to keep them all moving).  I have heard others that haven't been so lucky with clogs...

Just realize that the Epson's do have their quirks (cartridge resets do come to mind as well), but if you baby it and are willing to deal with it, there are good deals to be had.

DX5 head... not too sure about the different heads. I have a 4800 now that I nicknamed "stupidmthrfkr" but I am hoping an upgraded unit will perform better than what I have. I'm not too fond of "power cleanings" and banding so I want to do my best to prevent any issues down the road,  It's an epson so I'm sure it's impossible to have perfection all the time every time but I sure as hell don't want to babysit anything. thanks jv.

I love the nickname, our 4900 shared it with your 4800.

the DX5 head is what is in your Epson 4800/4880/7800/7880/9800/9800.
as far as screen room conditions for our i-Image ST/STE/STE II series with the Gen 4 heads we recommend but to not require 40+F and 30%+RH.
