Hello all,
Wondering if I can call someone about printing trucker hats with plastisol transfers?
I've been having an issue of the print sorta wrinkling on the hat after applied.
Need some advice.

Here's what I'm doing:
Screen 110 Coating 2/1
Using Union Mixopake ink and just started to add 5% low cure additive.
Using Ryonet Hot Peel Transfer paper
One stroke and I've tried 2 strokes.
Apply Powder
Send through dryer fast
Cut and apply at 285 degrees for 5 seconds at lowest pressure then peel.
I just use the transfer paper with no craft paper on top of it when pressing.

Print is more opaque then before which is good but after application the print wrinkles some when bending hat.
Seems like I need the print more on top of the hat then in to the hat.

Print mostly on darker trucker hats.  Light hats, no problem.

Thank you for the help.

On dark hats, I have only done cold peel. Since all of the ink is on the hat, it should be pretty opaque.

I'd like to see a picture of this "wrinkling"
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

photo would be good.  Is this the foam trucker hat style or the knit 5 panel style?  Is JUST the print wrinkling or the fabric?

Application temp seems really low compared to what I've used successfully for plastisol transfers.  I did find that using a cover sheet and closing the press as quickly as possible stopped issues I had with vinyl transfers wrinkling, but I never had that issue with plastisol transfers.

Yeah, he's about 100 degrees off per Union's instructions. These are for Mixotrans, but they also suggest that Mixopake can be mixed with their adhesive for similar results.

Link fixed, I think

Try heat pressing the cap first, then apply your transfer, if the cap wrinkles you'll see it before you slap your transfer on.

Thanks guys for the info.
Got on the phone with Larry and got a lot of insight.
Probably have to invest in some transfer ink.
I only print on Trucker foam hats.
The hat or print is not wrinkled after printed.  Only wrinkles when I push my finger on it but goes back.  A weird thing going on.
Here's a pic:

Honestly, I think that is just what happens when you have plastisol on top of foam.  It is going to flex differently.

Right on.
Just curious if it will change at all using transfer ink specifically.
Thanks!

I doubt it.  That will affect how you print and press a bit maybe, but it is still plastisol.  You might see a different result with a stretchier ink or with different thicknesses of ink deposit, but otherwise it is still plastic on top of foam and those are going to deform differently.

i agree with this. we do it all the time, and see this often, but usually it is the foam crinkling.
