IMHO hollering about going green is a way to sell a product that really does not do what they say it should, everything in the end has some kind of side effect.  Eco friendly could mean a whole lot of things to different people, and what works in this state or country might not work in other's.
Life is like Kool-Aid, gotta add sugar/hardwork to make it sweet!!

I think the issue here is POTENTIAL misinformation. . . Water based ink on an average is PROBABLY more eco friendly than plastisol all things equal. Somebody dumping tons of it down the drain is much worse than reusing plastisol, but with good housekeeping practices, water SHOULD have a slight edge. Difference is probably a lot less than we are led to believe.

All said and done, Eco friendly is the future and we should all be striving to implement as much of it as practical. Not for the sake of being able to sell more by being on the current bandwagon, but rather because it is the future of this planet and the human race. We are overexploiting the limited resources we have available and unless we figure out a way to do things with a significantly smaller footprint, there will be trouble!

Do it for your kids!

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

I agree, but unfortunately a lot of people out there think the world and said resources were made for us and our enjoyment to do as we see fit. So with that outlook nothing will change

Pierre, in your post, my eyes went straight to the word "overexploiting", which, though you used it in the opposite context, is the exact issue we see so much with the current marketing trend of "greenwashing"

Plain and simple, right now, "green" sells, especially to the younger market, who (even if they smoke) still expect to hang around for a few years, which gives them a stake in the planet.

I guess that bottom line is I hope that "eco friendly" products are being pushed for their intrinsic value more than their bottom line.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

It's about the full environmental cycle of the product.  Very few true analyses of this type in all industries, especially this one. 

Complicating the environmental impact is the health impact at point of raw material production, application, at the end use.

"Green" encompasses all this and is used by the less scrupulous to appeal to the masses in ways some of us find unappealing.  I'm not sure if I have more animosity toward the greenwashers or the greenwearers, if you will, who buy into the less scrupulously advertised products.  I think it's even extended at this point into some kind of monster where everything anyone does is magically "green", "local" and "sustainable".  It's called happy talk and we go through cultural cycles of getting upset about what we are doing in our environment, making tiny little steps toward improving it and then proceeding to pat ourselves on the back until roused again.  Seems to go around every decade or two.

everybody in between and their brother
to start their own shop!  >:(

Now your right that was very interesting, we have a lumber supply store in our area that does screen print and embroidery, and there customer base is guess CONTRACTORS!!!!! LOL, if you look at it it's really not a bad idea on there part.
