« on: April 29, 2015, 09:03:11 PM »
So I come home today to find the postcard below in the mailbox. I'm not a Si-Fi fan not do I get any related mail like that. Wonder what their response rate is??? Oh, btw my last name is Haug.

I have seen similar marketing for personalized things before.
I assume that they have a program which generates the mailings, and then, probably a DTG to produce the goodies.

Over the years I've had offers of family crests, flags, trees, Guys (no wait, that was DVD's)

Pretty cool idea actually.

I just think it is odd. I cant imagine there is that good of a return for them. To have a mass mailing to individual odd last names, some of them have to be a total crap shoot. Buy name lists, then print how many oversized post cards with the name change, then pay oversized postage. What do you think they have into each postcard? $0.50?

Cost of mailings I have no idea, but presently in my area we are having a runoff election for state senator, and the number of mailings from the two candidates is astounding! Sometimes three for each candidate a day and some are duplicates and some aren't.
I always assumed that this bulk stuff gets some really cheap rates.

The idea is that when you get mail you toss it. But when you see your name personally on it, you pull it out actually look at it. Probably the most effective forms of direct mail. It even got you posting about is on an internet forum. Frog is right, the printers that do that have a program that will create all of that based upon the mailing list you enter in it. Forget the name of the off the top of my head. Very expensive machines. But they automatically change every card to the last name of the mailing address and prints the mailing address as well.

As far as the end user, who must be a DTG owner, interesting marketing route. I'm sure they are dropping a chunk of change on this. I wonder how many orders they would have to receive to break even on the marketing expense.

I just peaked their website. Pretty nice idea for marketing DTG. I wonder how well it's working for them.
