CCI mixing white causes me some problems
« on: April 29, 2015, 10:55:31 PM »
Have a look at the attached photo. I`m really not sure what causes the issue. It`s all CCI products, discharge base with mixing white and some other CCI pigments. Once the activator hits the pigmented base things go south. I get this milky liquid in the ink. The whole ink turns into gelee, not as thick though.
This is happening with every color that requires mixing white. If we use normal discharge white everything is fine.
Now sure what to do now with all the mixing white we have.

We NEVER use the mixing white, we always use D-White in its place. It has saved a lot of headaches for us.

That`s all well and good, but still I wonder what causes the problem.
And for what it`s worth I found that using the discharge white instead of the mixing white pigments gives the ink too much opacity especially when you want to achieve color blends where you overprint one color with another one.

Filter the white pig and you can use it.  In any case. D white or cms white,  don't rely on the amount of white in the formula.  Add last in anywhere from zero to a half of the called for amount, mix, test, adjust. You'll pick up an intuition for it after enough.  Treat black pig in a similar fashion.
