How many indexes will machines last for?
« on: April 17, 2015, 10:52:40 AM »
Hi,

Thanks for all the useful information over the past few years -

I'm looking at buying another used machine, one in particular has 13 million impressions. We have two Challenger II's currently with both roughly 9.5 million impressions and they both are running like champs everyday. Should I be scared of such a high index count?

What is an average number of indexes where you begin to see major mechanical failure with the screw bearing or the indexer itself? If a machine has been properly maintained over the course of its life would the high impressions compromise the machine?

Most if not all on our machines depends on the proper lubricants and maintenance. I have seen one shop in Honduras that has 8 of our machines and all of them had over 45,000,000 on each one and were running pretty close to the way we originally installed them. Parts become an issue on really old machines more than cycles at least on our machines.
