New Member and Long Time Visitor
« on: April 10, 2015, 05:22:54 PM »
Hello all,

I've posted a couple times before, but never introduced myself.  My name is Jason and I am a new owner of a Diamondback S 8/7.  I've posted on here a couple times troubleshooting and met a lot of great, helpful people on TSB.

A little story on how I started:
I've been printing with my dad on and off since 2011.  It came to the point where he was too busy and started messing up jobs and asked me to take over and lead the company in a new direction.  I took over last year.  There have been many leaps and strides, but with those leaps and strides have come many mistakes and setbacks.  My parents have been entrepreneurs all their life and they got me involved in business since I was 8 years old so I'm pretty familiar with business.  I've always wanted to be a successful entrepreneur and always told myself I will do whatever it takes.  Sometimes it's hard I have to admit.  Screen Printing and Embroidery is a whole new thing compared to what I'm used to.  I managed and worked two retail stores my parents owned.  When I first started, I had a job or two a month if I was lucky, but now, it's completely different.  I have about 2-5 jobs a week on top of the printing I do for our retail stores so I barely have time off.  Keep in mind that I do everything from start to finish so it's extremely difficult to meet deadlines.  I love screen printing and I know some people don't.  What I love about our line of work is that we're creating something that started off as an idea and the final product is what we created.  The most rewarding thing that I find is that when I see someone wearing a garment that I printed/embroidered on.  There's just something about it that puts a smile on my face.  I'm always up for a challenge and believe me being in screen printing and embroidery is a huge challenge.  There are times that I just want to give up and quit because I can't figure out what's going wrong or I don't like how it printed, but I'm still here. A lot of people ask me why I do it and how I can work for so long under stress.  My answer is simple.  I want to be successful at what I do and being successful is having to understand that it will take a lot of hard work, time, effort, and mistakes to get where I want to be.  After all, mistakes is how we've all learn with screen printing.  Sorry for the long post.  Not sure if this was suppose to even be on here lol.

Oh and by the way, I'm only 22.  Shocker, right?  A lot of sales reps have taken advantage of my newbieness, but I catch on real quick as I was in retail for 5 years.  Many people don't take me seriously because of my age, but it doesn't bother me.  After all, I don't have anything to prove to them.  I've met some great people on here that have helped me very much.  Thank you to all of you!  Hope I was able to encourage/motivate some people who are in the same position I am.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your time!

Wow. What a story and you're just starting.  I worked with a guy yesterday that was 25 yrs old if I remember correctly. We talked a little about his age and how people get an impression right away. I've been doing separations for him for a while now and always assumed he was like 40-50 yrs old (on the phone). I'm sure he doesn't let anyone get one over on him either.

You've got such a great start, I just can't imagine where I'd be now if I had been able to start by own print shop so young. Thanks for sharing that story. It's inspiring.
