Union Liberty Mixopake mixing system (non-phthalate)...

....anybody using it ?  Does it have the same opacity qualities as the old Mixopake ?
The old Mixopake formulas mixed and printed very close to the Pantone color guide.
I loved it for pfp work on darker shirts.

Its not always pigment load that makes an ink more opaque.  There is the inks body/thickness/rheology that assists in a thicker ink deposit.  Also blowing agent helps with opacity (a small amount).  White pigment will increase an inks opacity as does any kind of dulling aspect to an ink.

I would strongly encourage you to talk to a tech at Wilflex and ask him how you can achieve the properties of Maxopake inks with the different bases and what pigment loading you should be at.

I've had to start using some of the newer "Liberties" along with my older Mixos and haven't seen a difference.

Years ago, the fact that Mixopake was the only Pantone approved opaque system meant more when we printed a lot of P-F-P, rather than underbasing.
I use my system now almost always adding some base to increase its WOW abilities and make it more like Ultrasoft.
Sounds like for you, it may still be the way to go.

For me, mixing a lot of small quantities, I found the pigment based systems too difficult to work with.

I do like many of the Wilflex products... Quick White, is my go to White.

Who is your usual Union dealer? Many distributors will mix.

I never used the old inks from Union but about a month or 2 ago I started using the mixopake system since I lked the maxopake so well.  What I like about the union if you are wanting to print Pantones directly on a shirt the do very well. The last few I haven't even PFP.  If you want a standard ink to print over a base they have a base extender you can mix up to 50%

Since switching to the maxopake and Mixopaque line my ink usage is down although the past year was my best ever.

Now I just feel bad for completely hijacking the thread. My main supplier is Midwest. I know they offer custom Pantone in Wilflex, but I have not asked a lot maxopaque. I guess I assume they would advertise like the wilflex if they offered it. I have had a couple of members reach out to me so hopefully, we can work something out.
