That's exactly what it was.  It had no idea the film was probably in there.  I turned off the paper size check and it worked.  Thank you so much Squeezee!

I'm having the same problem on an epson 3000. I'm using fastrip and ps9. I was told it was the fastrip so i got the trial of accurip and the same thing. I've tried making sure the paper is set the same. The only success i have had is to turn off the printer, then unplug it, turn off the fastrip then turn it all back on. Then it will print correctly for a few films, then wham...it cuts it off again. Usually at 8.5 inches but several times at 6". I've tried re-installing drivers and looking for new patches for the 3000, which I couldn't find. Once in awhile it does this when printing documents, then it cuts it off at 6", it doesn't fade, just stops it. This is in width, length it runs the full print.
Please post any info you find for this problem.

did you try printing on paper?

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

yes, sometimes it prints correctly on paper, sometimes it doesn't. I forgot to mention above, I use 13" wide film. SO i got the idea to try and "fool" it, i set all the paper settings to A2 which is 16"...and walla it worked...perfect films for about 4 runs and then boom, back to cutting it off again.

now i am really confused. It printed it correctly with the windows driver. WHich points back to the RIP, right? Yet i tried a different RIP and it did the same thing. But i must add, it does it periodically when i print invoices on this printer too, cuts off the left side of the page on a letter size page.
On the films it cuts off the left side of the print as you are looking at the printer.

I'm wondering if it is the cable or something? I had to get a parallel to serial cable when i got a new computer 2 years ago. It was a cheaper one off the internet. I started having trouble with the printer cutting off the films about 6 months ago but it was only once in awhile and has gradually gotten worse. Most of the time it works for a few films if i shut off and unplug the printer and close the rip, then turn on and re-open.

Did you set up AccuRIP correctly? Do you have the right RIP for the wide format printer? There are two AccuRIP's. One for small format and one for large format Epsons.  Please call Charlie Facini, the creator of AccuRIP and he will help you. He is a great guy. I don't have the office number but there is extensive help on the website and his number is there. It is the Freehand Graphics website. Lots of help there also.

I am not a dealer - We have 7600's, 7880's, 4880's AccuRIP, and Wasatch
AccuRIP, when set correctly with proper blacks is flawless.
Here is the web address (hope I did this right)

Thanks Ron, I got the trial accurip thru Bob at performance screen. I set it up but he went over it with me and it was correct and yes for the smaller printer. That's why I don't think it's a rip problem. My fastrip is old so i thought yeah maybe. But when it does the same thing with the accurip then it can't be that. I'm really frustrated with it and not sure what else to try.

I'd definitely use the ethernet card, you can pick one up for pennies on ebay, it's a lot more reliable.

I have a customer who was having the exact same issue. I believe she said it turned out to be a rip issues.

Look up the member name of my2bratts. That is Judy. Email her or look up the website to get a phone number.  She might help or maybe you can help her. Not sure if she got it taken care of.
