Small quality 4 colour press... Any recommendations?

Hey Guys!

I am looking for a small press for the shop, kind of a secondary unit that my printers can move around , or out of the way if it needs to be moved in our overcrowded space...

I love my side clamp Chameleon {Air locks are worth every penny} , but the footprint is huge.  I don't have the space for another one.

I am wondering if anyone would have a recommendation on a table top, or smaller manual 4 colour press.  I don't expect it to be the Chameleon, nor does it have to be. We will run any detailed prints on the auto or chameleon. I want something that holds registration, maybe has micros and can run easy sleeves or one colour prints.

Online Ive checked out Vastex, Ryley Hopkins, thats about it...

I think that if you don't limit yourself to tabletop models, you'll have a wider selection of true commercial quality presses (both new and used)
Locking casters could be the answer to portability.

I like Workhorse and they have a 4/4 in their higher end Mach series

CAPS if still ariund had a pretty good tabletop press.  Had one of their 4 color cap presses and it was a very good and solid press.

The old orange CAPS presses made in sunny Johnson City, Tennessee are no longer made. Alan sold the company to someone who operates out of sunny Sarasota, Florida (a sunny place for shady people -- the state, not the town).
They are nothing like the old presses, although even the orange ones started losing quality when they were outsourced to Mexico (or so I'm told). I had a 6-color floor model and had just about figured out how to make the micros usable for about $150 when I stumbled across my Vastex. That said, aside from the micros, the press was pretty well built, and from what I remember reading the cap presses were about the best in the business.

Good to know. Thanks and yes the hat press was awesome. I peinted 500 hats, 4clr print in 2 hours on that thing back in the day.

We have a Vastex 4x4 on their had wheels. Move it where you want it and it is top notch.

I'm in the Sunshine State also (since 1956) just North of Dan's old neighborhood. They don't call us Floridiots for nuthin' y'know . . . ;-P

I started on a Vastex, good solid machines. Solid is the most important thing, you don't want it flexing on you while you're printing...

That is actually a cap printing setup.  The dryer even has the heating element on the side.  just FYI!
