Print position

For years we used a system where the person exposing the screen decided on the print position
We are changing to a system with the top registration mark fixed and the graphics department positioning the artwork.
Does anyone have measurement tables they'd be willing to share and any comments on this system?

Not really, but long sleeves with prints running length ways tend to be centered, and horizontal prints on short sleeves 1/2"-1" above the seam.

I also always emphasize that in the end, more importantly, the position is where the client wants it!

Agreed. But I am trying to get to a situation where the graphic designer place the graphics n the right position relative to the registration mark, this way the person exposing doesn't have to have any printing knowledge.   X on X and away you go.

Well, with wht I've given you, you could certaily standardize that for the most part, but leave yourself open for deviations from the norm.

Set your pallets in a desired position and call that the home position and using whatever device you use to locate the pallets, mark that device and make it known this is set in stone to all who use it or touch it.

Load a blank screen in the press, square it up in the head set the clamps. Trace the outline of the pallet onto the screen and this now becomes your template.

using the screen template, markk the location of the reg mark, then use a ruler and mark every inch or location you desire on the screen.

Now you can take the film with the reg mark on it, and start taking measurement from the reg mark, give that information to the artist so when the customer asks for 3" down from the collar hem, you know where that is.

Does anyone have measurements for youth sizes?

I just do the math, using my 1/4" adjustments starting with a youth XL the same as an adult small (though in actuality, youth Lg is closer to adult small)
btw, with Gildan youth, all bets are off, and you're on your own!
