Vent on a Sprint Dryer
« on: January 13, 2015, 02:49:44 PM »
I have burned up 2- 6" fans on the end of my dryer. Is there anything anyone can recommend that will last longer than a month? Can you provide supplier links if you have them?

Burned out too hot or burned out too much back pressure?

Maybe mount a little higher up the stack so the exhaust is a bit cooler before hitting the fan?

We had an inline fan on our back exhaust with our previous dryer setup and it never crapped out.  I just had my HVAC guy find one with high enough cfm and operating temp.

The M&R one would be the end all I imagine.  I was just ordering parts for our Sprint and saw that part and it looks just like the main stack blower.

What I preferred about our inline is no belts but when it goes, the whole thing goes unlike the M&R style where you can replace belts/motor/etc.

Rich, I also saw an assy you guys make that has some kind of material to make a curtain around the exit vent hood, what is that stuff and does M&R sell cuts of it?  We built an extended custom hood for ours that I'm going to put on this month, it sticks out another couple feet and attaches to the exit vent to capture all that heat that emanates off the garments, kind of like a little roof over half the outfeed.  That flap stuff might be perfect for the sides as you could still get access under the hood when needed but contain even more of that heat.

If you get a fan that is moved with a pulley that will move the motor out of the heat and should solve most your problems, or move the fan closer to the outlet so it's cooler.

The motor on ours is not in the heat.
